Still a way to go until the window officially opens on the 10th of June but I imagine everyone has an idea about what we need in and out over the summer!

I think most would agree we have some absolute non-negotiables this time around

GK on a permanent deal
2 x CB
1 x LB

And for me, I still think we need a striker.

Players that will leave for certain

Iverson (Loan)
Hoover (Loan)
McNally (Loan)
Cundle (Loan)
Haksabanovic (Loan)

Players out of contract (as of the June 30th)

Stevens
Clark
Thompson
Wesley
Campbell
Blondy

So potentially 12 players out the door although I think we will give Thompson & Stevens extensions, I think Campbell has an offer on the table but will probably look for a new challenge.

Although I don't think we will quite hit the numbers of last season and SS has already implied the squad is too big, I think we will see a decent number of new faces through the door this summer.

Feel free to share any rumours or stories you hear on this thread, no ones going to get hammered for sharing a rumour round here ;)

Agree with everything here!

It’ll be very interesting to see how many players will be looked to be signed. I’d imagine there will be at least 4 loan players just because of FFP implications.

In terms of names I’d love to see, some of whom have been mentioned online already:

Victor Johansson would be really good addition. He seems to be very unproven with the ball at his feet but I don’t think that’s a style we will play (in terms of a sweeper). I don’t think we’re looking for a keeper who will be playing short passes, more so jusy capable of picking out players with long range and not making mistakes. I think Johansson would be a great addition for the rumoured 1mil clause.

Jay Stansfield would be right up there for me regarding a number 9. Proven at this level, was brilliant when I watched him at Exeter for a season. Schuey knows him really well because of the Devon derby. No idea if Fulham will sell but I can’t see him breaking into the first team there (could be wrong). But I think champ is the level he thrives in.

Ronnie Edwards would be my number one target for CB, although he’s likely to have a hefty price tag I’d imagine. Same with Poku, a winger from Peterborough we have been linked with already, not convinced by him but has a good reputation. I think I’d be happy to add in a winger on loan considering our front line. Burrows is a brilliant LB from Peterborough we have been previously linked with, he is another I like the look of. Probably my top target at LB from what I could see that’s an option.

Charlie Cresswell from Leeds has everything to be brilliant in the championship and doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the Leeds first team. You’d think he’s available and again, linked with him previously.

Not all these names are likely, but the majority of them other than Stanno we have been linked with. I think they all improve our squad.

I’d imagine some experience will be brought in also… unsure where?

Thompson has a year's extension clause so hopefully the club will activate that and he seems happy at the club.

Campbell I think will leave even if offered a new contract, although he seems to get on well with the squad especially Laurent.

Would love Hoover back on a season long loan and McNally, if we can't get a decent CB on a permanent deal.

Stevens would offer another year's contract although maybe wait until later into the summer to see if we can sign anyone with a better injury record!

Tom Edwards & Wright-Phillips will both leave as can't see them being part of the manager's plans.

Campbell gone, Thompson extension clause activated. TC will end up at Swansea in my opinion 👀

Can’t say I remember him from our meetings this season but that’s an area we certainly need to strengthen.
Be interesting to see if we spend that much on a defender given the recent FFP restrictions we've been under. Only slight concern is his injury record.

He’s certainly rated by QPR, winning players play of the year which gives the impression he has the character to match his ability.

Feels like 5-7mill is a lot of money for a 26 year old CB who hasn’t got a great record with injuries. I’d rather than money be pumped into a striker but perhaps we have more money to spend this summer than I’m aware of?

With Peterborough staying down you’d think some of the players I previously mentioned may be up for grabs (considering we have been linked with them before):

- Edwards.
- Poku.
- Burrows.

Would you take any of them?

Can’t say I’ve seen enough personally to make a call but they’re all highly rated.

I do feel slightly more confident going into this window now that Super Jon will have some input. I do like Schumacher and those two seem to get on well so I think we will certainly getting players with ability to do the job required and the attitude that complies with the old Stoke DNA.

I don’t expect it all to drop into place this window but at least a few of the bricks should fit the foundations.

Not for me. My favourite player from that Stoke era but have to leave it behind. Finance, attitude & character in question means it’s far too high a risk for me. Love him loads, but a no for me with where we are at.
Have him back in a heartbeat, he’s better than Ennis , Vidigal and Mmee , put £5k on the gate or more , in my opinion it’s a no brainer

I understand that. It sounds great on the front of things… and hear me loud I adored him as a player and look back with beautiful memories. But I just don’t see that’s where we’re at as a club. We’re a mid table championship team with a new manager.

You can see it playing out... Player power, feeling like he shouldn’t be playing in the championship when the demands of games kick in, if we aren’t being successful he isn’t happy. I can’t quite believe people forget things so quickly. The last time he turned up at Stoke people were waving toy snakes around at the game because he was sliding on his knees in front of the boothen end doing the hammer sign and kissing the West Ham badge 😂 I was there.

Don’t get me wrong, unreal player back in the day. But we’ve all been going on about attitude and character for years and all of a sudden we want to bring back a player that dropped us as quick as anything and rubbed it in our faces. He didn’t leave Stoke with beautiful words to say, he left us laughing at us crumbling.
